Atlas Solutions Plus is excited to announce the next evolution in CEH: CEH Master!
What is CEH Master?
CEH + CEH Practical = CEH Master
CEH Master is the next evolution for the world-renowned Certified Ethical Hacker program, and a logical ‘next step’ for those holding this prestigious certification.
Achieving the CEH Master designation is your way of saying, “I learned it, I know it, I proved it.” To earn the CEH Master designation you must successfully demonstrate your knowledge of Ethical Hacking through two distinctly different proving grounds.
First, you must attempt and successfully pass the ANSI Accredited Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) multiple choice exam. Once you complete this first step, you can move on to the second part of earning the CEH Master designation, the CEH Practical Exam.
The CEH Practical is a six-hour, rigorous exam that requires you to demonstrate the application of Ethical Hacking techniques such as threat vector identification, network scanning, OS detection, vulnerability analysis, system hacking, web app hacking, etc., to solve a security audit challenge.
Why CEH Master?
To be placed at the tip of your organization’s cyber spear, you must be confident, proficient in your job, and be at the top of your game. You must be able to think on your feet, act quickly, appropriately, and proportionally. Make a mistake and bad things can happen.
CEH Master gives you the opportunity to prove to your employer, your peers, and most importantly to yourself that you can in fact take on and overcome challenges found in everyday life as an ethical hacker. To prove this, though, you are not given exam simulations. Your abilities are tested with real-world challenges in a real-world environment, and with a time limit, just as you would find in your job.
How long is the exam?
This depends entirely on you. The time limit, however, is six hours.
Where do I test?
The CEH Practical is a virtually proctored online exam. All you will need is a reliable internet connection, your favorite machine, an internet cam, and the skills and fortitude to successfully navigate and conquer the challenges.
What is on the Practical Exam?
The CEH Practical Exam tests the practical application of knowledge tested on the CEH Exam. The CEH Practical Exam is a challenge-based environment where you will be assigned a series of objectives that directly relate to content covered in the CEH course, and ultimately tested in the ANSI Accredited CEH Exam. And just as in real life, you can use notes, courseware, Google, etc. Meaning, it is open book!
Okay, so what content does the Practical cover?
Since you’re still reading and seemingly up for the challenge, here are a few more exam content hints for you to consider. Listed below are some of the types of activities you will perform while attempting the CEH Practical exam. In addition to the listed activities, you will have to know the WHEN, WHY, and HOW you perform each task to achieve a specific objective related to each of the 20 challenges you will encounter.
1. Demonstrate an understanding of attack vectors
2. Perform network scanning to identify live and vulnerable machines in a network
3. Perform OS Banner grabbing, service, and user enumeration
4. Perform system hacking, steganography, steganalysis attacks, and cover your tracks
5. Identify and use viruses, worms, and malware to exploit systems in the target environment
6. Perform Packet Sniffing
7. Perform a variety of web server and web application attacks including directory traversal, parameter tampering, XSS, and others
8. Execute SQL Injection attacks
9. Execute cryptography attacks
10. Perform vulnerability analysis to identify security loopholes in the target network, communication infrastructure, and end systems
How many challenges will I have to complete?
There are 20 challenges presented on the CEH Practical exam. To pass, you will need a score of 70% or higher.
Am I ready?
Only you know, but if you read through this and thought to yourself repeatedly, “I can do that”, “I know that one”, “That sounds like my Monday”, or “I can run circles around this thing,” then chances are you are ready to prove your skills and abilities as an Ethical Hacker and become a CEH Master.
So, are you up to the challenge? If you answered, “yes”, Prove It!
